Sichuan University held the 11th International Young Scholars Forum at the International Academic Exchange Center of Wangjiang Campus on November 23.President Wang Jinsong, Yang Ying, a grade II inspector of the organization department of the Sichuan provincial Party committee, Vice President Zhao Changsheng of SCU, heads of relevant provincial and municipal units, as well as young scholars from famous universities and research institutions, such as Harvard University and the University of Cambridge attended the forum. Zhao Changsheng presided over the forum. This forum is made up of one main forum and 45 sub forums. Over 150 outstanding young scholars participated in person, with over 8,000 attending the forums online.
On behalf of the university, President Wang Jinsongwelcomed the attending guests and young scholars and briefly introduced the basic situation of the university. He pointed out that Sichuan University has a profound foundation, and holds teachers and education in high esteem. Well-known teachers gather here to bring up talent. Being a strong university with a complete spectrum of academic subjects, the university currently is accelerating the development of a world-class university with Chinese features, and has formulated and implemented the “Decision on Accelerating the High Quality Development of the University and Supporting the Development of a Strong Education State”. The university especially prioritizes the development of schools with a team of brilliant talent, and strives to increase efforts to attract talent via innovative methods.Boasting 25 state research platforms and nearly 20 international high-end research cooperation platforms, the university continuously reinforces concerted research, vigorously promotes "medicine+" and "+intelligence" so as to provide a first-class platform for the development of talent's career.In addition, the university has implemented a series of supportive policies to provide services and guarantees for young talent, including research start-up funds, turnover apartments for talent, children's education, medical services, etc., so that everyone can focus on academic pursuits and teaching after arriving at the university.Yang Ying and Yang Yi respectively extended congratulations to the forum on behalf of Sichuan Province and Chengdu City. They welcomed the attending scholars, and briefly introduced the economic and social development and technological innovation capabilities of Sichuan Province and Chengdu City, especially the policies supporting domestic and foreign elites to work and start business in Sichuan as well as Chengdu.
Director Wu Yao of the Human Resources Department presided over the forum during the second phase. Zheng Chengbin, deputy director of the HRD (Talent Office), Wu Mei, deputy director of theOffice of Scientific Research and Development, and Xiong Lin, director of the Faculty of Social Sciences, respectively introduced the university's talent policy and policies for the development of sciences, engineering, Medicine, and Humanities and social sciences.
This forum has received widespread attention from young scholars, and theyindicated that they have deepened their understanding of Sichuan University through this forum.
