Sichuan University held a concert to welcome Class 2023 on the evening of December 1st. Nearly 6,000 teachers and students gathered together to experience the charm of traditional Chinese music and draw strength for progress.
With the theme of "Mellifluous Melodies, Beautiful Chinese Music", the welcome concerthasadopted an innovative approach of "master guidance + performance appreciation". It aimed to carry on the Chinese cultural heritage, promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of excellent traditional Chinese culture.Besides SCU teachers and students, the university also invited the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra, Zhengdu Chamber Orchestra, and young folk musicians of Sichuan province. The concert featured a large-scale ethnic orchestral ensemble, interspersed with various forms of folk music solo, instrumental duet, quartet, music skits, and ethnic vocal singing, leading the teachers and students to experience the rich diversity of ethnic Chinese music.
In the master's guidance section, Professor Li Xilin, a renowned Chinese conductor, music educator, and vice chairman of the Chorus-China of China Musicians Association, gave a lecture on ethnic orchestral music for Class 2023, introducing the origin and development of ethnic instrumental music, the vocal components and instruments in folk orchestras, and the style and cultural charm of folk music.
Cultural confidence stems from the powerful cultural genes contained in the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Theresounding music lingered on for three days, and this welcome concert immersed Class 2023 freshmen in the power of China's excellent traditional music culture.
Students of the Sichuan University Students Folk Orchestra, who were responsible for the main performance tasks, come from 13 colleges of the liberal arts, science, engineering, and medicine, covering three levels of education: the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral program. This has fully demonstrated the effectiveness of our university's all round development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labor education. On this night, SCU teachers and students gathered together to accelerate the high-quality development of the university, galvanize the youth, and stress the determination to build a powerful country in education.
