On August 26, the university held a work planning meeting for Fall 2022 on Wangjiang Campus. Chairman Gan Lin of the university council, President Li Yanrong, and all other university leaders attended the meeting. Also present at the meeting were Gao Jie (academician of CAE), Wang Qi (academician of CAE), Distinguished Professor Cao Shunqing, Distinguished Professor Zhong Benhe, Distinguished Professor Huo Wei and other experts and scholars, members of the "two committees" of the university, all middle-level cadres, heads of scientific research institutions, and trade union chairmen of various units. The meeting was presided over by Gan Lin.

In his speech, Li Yanrong made a brief summary of the work progress during the spring semester and summer, and laid out the key tasks for the latter half of the year. He noted that the university made notable progress especially in seven areas with the coordinated effort of all cadres, faculty and students in the first half of the year.In the second half of the year, SCU will comprehensively promote and carry out the 13 determined key tasks for its construction and development. While doing a good job in the key work of the university in the second half of the year, we should further explore and optimize the discipline structure and discipline ecology, especially strengthen the leading and driving role of intelligent technology based on Algorithms and software. We should focus on strengthening organized scientific research and team operations, strive to cultivate large achievements which are representative and distinctive, and further intensify efforts to introduce high-end talent at the strategic scientist level. Efforts also should be made to study and explore the management and operation mechanism of super large universities.

Gan Lin summed up the summer work in his speech, expressed thanks to all teachers for their hard work on behalf of the university, and put forward requirements for doing a good job in the key work in the second half of the year. At present and for a period to come, SCU should first take a clear-cut stand and highlight the main theme of welcoming, studying, publicizing, and implementing the work of the 20th National Congress of the party, and ensure overall harmony and stability. We need to scientifically and accurately implement normalized epidemic prevention and control measures, and build a strong COVID prevention and control network. We will constantly maintain a safe and stable campus, comprehensively accelerate the development of a world-class university with Chinese features, and greet the opening of the 20th National Congress of CPC with phenomenal achievements.
