On November 20, the awarding ceremony of the Second Teaching Master Award, Outstanding Teaching Award and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Award was held in South China University of Technology. Lin Huiqing, chairman of the medical education expert committee of the Ministry of Education(MOE) and former vice minister of MOE, and Wu Yan, director of the Department of Higher Education, attended the award ceremony. SCU’s Prof. Feng Xiaoming, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) won the Outstanding Teaching Award. Wang Shirui of Class 2006 of West China School of Stomatology (an eight-year program) wonthe Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Award.

Remarks of the judging panel: Being a well-known organic chemist, Prof. Feng Xiaoming stands by such educational notions as “wisdom, industry, integrity, self-confidence” and “determination, innovation, seeking truth from facts, strengthening responsibility” in his teaching and scientific research. He has trained a number of innovative talent for our country. In his class, students not only learned the laws of the elements that make up matter, but also realized the equation of growth and progress.

Professor Feng Xiaoming has a strong sense of social responsibility and noble teaching ethics. He always upholds the principle of moral education and actively participates in the practice of innovation and development. He teaches by precept and example and guide students in their studies and research. During more than 30 years of teaching, he has trained a large number of patriotic professionals and management talent, including young Chinese female scientists, scholars of national "outstanding youth program" and national "excellent youth program", senior executives of listed companies and advanced R & D personnel. He has achieved remarkable success in both teaching and scientific research. His honors include the “National Excellent Teacher”, the National Excellent Doctoral Thesis Advisor, Model Teacher of Sichuan Province, second prize of National Natural Science Award, first prize of Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, “Material Science Prize” of Future Science Award, National Innovation Medal, Tan Kah Kee (Chen Jiageng) Science Awards, Science and Technology Progress Award of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, first prize of Teaching Achievement of Sichuan Province, and Excellent Teacher Award of BaoSteel.

Wang Shirui is the founder and CEO of Medlinker. Under his leadership, Medlinker has obtained the National Development and Reform Commission's first batch of typical cases of sharing economy, the promotion catalogue of smart health care products and services of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (Edition 2020), the new information consumption demonstration project of Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology – Medlinker/an online hospital (open.medlinker.com), 100 key enterprises of new economy in Chengdu in 2020, and the most innovative enterprise of China by Forbes 2019. In 2019, Medlinker’s revenue exceeds 1.3 billion.
Wu Yan, director of the Department of Higher Education, noted that the “three awards” represents the most important award for higher education. He expressed his expectations to the award-winning teachers and students: "I hope that the rank and file university teachers will devote themselves to teaching and educating people, and the young students will grow and become talent. I hope that the whole society will work together to make education the most respected cause on the globe, and let daring to create and innovate become the most vigorous force of youth under the sun!"
