On Nov. 20, the National Commendation Meeting for Ethical and Spiritual Civilization Development was held in Beijing.

President Xi Jinping met with and expressed his sincere greetings and congratulations to the representatives of the new civilized cities, civilized villages and towns, civilized work units, civilized families, civilized campuses and minors' ideological and moral work. Wang Huning, director of the Central Commission for Ethical and Spiritual Civilization Development(CCESCD) delivered a speech at the commendation meeting. Ding Xuexiang attended the meeting, and Sun Chunlan read out the commendation decision at the meeting. 50 universities including Sichuan University, 264 middle schools and 327 primary schools nationwide won the title of “National Civilized Campus”.

In recent years, SCU gives a high priority to the construction of a civilized campus and incorporates it into the great undertaking of the development of a world-class university. In accordance with the "six good" standards for building a civilized campus, we should stick to the fundamental task of upholding morality and cultivating people. In particular, SCU has vigorously carried out an educational activity with the theme of "Inheriting and carrying forward the spirit of Sister Jiang and being the red successor in the new era". The university has also built a memorial hall of Sister Jiang/an exhibition hall of revolutionary heroes' deeds. Teachers and students have composed and performed a series of original stage dramas, achieving great success in the building of a civilized campus. SCU’s relevant work has been reported over 200 times by mainstream media such as CCTV, the People’s Daily, Guangming Daily, Xinghuanet.com, and so forth.

The "National Civilized Campus" is the highest honorary title that CCESCD awards to a school in the mass activities to nurture ethical and spiritual civilization. Looking forward to the future, SCU will take advantage of this honorary title to tie this work to build a civilized campus into the great undertaking of developing a world-class university as well as the Party construction. The university will continue to enrich the campus cultural life, raise the campus civilization level and strive to build the university into a strong position fortraining builders and successors of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
