Bringing with them humanitarian aid supplies, Zong’an Liang, chief physician of Respiratory Medicine & Critical Care Department, and Menglin Tang, head nurse of Pediatric ICU of the Critical Care Unit , West China Hospital joined the medical team of China Red Cross Society and flew to Italy to assist the fight against COVID-19 on March 11th. Being headed by a vice president of the Red Cross Society of China, the medical team consists of one expert from China CDC and five experts from Sichuan Province. Beside Zong’an Liang and Menglin Tang, the other three members are Wenbin Tong, deputy director and chief technician of the Department of Microbiology of China CDC, Sichuan Province; Jin Ji, lecturer of College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Sichuan University, and Xiaoli Qin, director of Chengdu disaster relief center of the Red Cross Society of China.
Zong’an Liang indicated that the anti-virus campaign had no boarders. Upon arrival in Italy, he would seize the time to learn about the local epidemic and share with the Italian counterparts his experience of combating COVID-19, promoting the cooperation between China and Italy in the field of health care.
