SCU held a global alumni cycling tour with the theme of "Green Cycling: Starting Again in the New Spring" at the Guixi Ecological Park in Chengdu on April 22nd. Zhang Wei, deputy secretary of SCU's Party committee, Chen Zhi, an SCU alumnus and deputy director of the Chengdu Sports Bureau, Sheng Gang, an SCU alumnus and deputy director of the Chengdu Sports Bureau, Huang Lei, deputy general manager of Chengdu Tianfu Greenway Group, Tao Yuan, deputy general manager of XinhuaNet, and alumni representatives, among others, took part in the launch ceremony.
More than 600 teachers, students, and alumni rode on the greenway, showcasing the vitality of Sichuan University students, enhancing the cohesion between alumni and their alma mater. This event attested to the school's sense of social responsibility and promoted the construction of Tianfu Park city as well as a beautiful China.
The global alumni cycling tour also features cultural exchange activities. At the launch ceremony, the Chengdu Guixi Ecological Park Greenway Exhibition Center held a school history exhibition of Sichuan University, showcasing the development and scientific research achievements of SCU, attracting a large audience of alumni and Chengdu residents.
Representatives of teachers, students, and alumni from various colleges of SCU collected cycling supplies at the cycling check-in point. Each college also held good-will services, such as legal consultation, sports injury prevention and rehabilitation clinic, anti-fraud small classes, oral emergency science popularization, traditional culture display, and classical sports experience, which have received compliments from the citizens.
SCU's alumni clubs are simultaneously carrying out green cycling activities around the world, and the cohesion between the school and its alumni continues to strengthen. This cycling event is one of the "Love Chengdu · Welcome to Join the Universiade" activities of Sichuan University, which aimed at mobilizing the sports enthusiasm of SCUers in a low-carbon and environmentally friendly way to usher in the upcoming Universiade. SCU will host competition events in its two stadiums during the 31stUniversiade. Specifically, the Taekwondo competitions will take place in the Wangjiang Campus Gymnasium, and the West China Campus Gymnasium will be used as a judo training center. Over 400 SCU students will volunteer to serve the games during the Universiade.
