The 21st China University Students Swimming Championships were held at Amoy Haicang Sports Center in Xiamen from March28 -31. Our school's swimming team worked hard and achieved good results in the competitions.
Wang Xiaojun and Zeng Hongguang from the College of Physical Education, SCU served as the head coaches of SCU's swimming team. After four days of intense competition, our school's swimmers won the third place in the women's group C and the fourth place in the group C overall. They also won one individual championship, three second places, and four third places, putting out the best performance of our school's swimming team in the national championships.
The swimmers competed in breaststroke, freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, medley, and relay swims in two groups, Group C (high-level group) and Group D (professional group). A total of 627 college athletes from 61 colleges and universities, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, Sichuan University, and Macao University, took part in the championships.
SCU established a special fund called the "Sichuan University Swimming Team Championship Plan" in 2021. The fund is mainly used to buy competition equipment and reward high-level athletes who have won medals in national competitions, providing strong support to athletes and enhancing their will to fight as well as the long-term development of the university swimming.
