SCU Students Did Superbly at the 12th “Challenge Cup” Chinese College Students Entrepreneurship Competition

On November 28, the finals of the 12th "Challenge Cup" Chinese College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition were held online. The SCU student team performed well and won four gold awards, one silver award and one bronze award, which has been the best results since SCU first competed in the Competition. The number of gold awards ranked the third nationwide. With a record high in group total score, SCU won the “Excellence Cup”. The Competition has received 179,000 entries from 2,786 universities, including universities from Hong Kong and Macao, and 432 entries were shortlisted for the final national defense.

The product focuses on improving the healing of tendon bone in tendon and ligament injury repair. As the lead researcher, the students applied for 4 patents and provided a new solution to the shortage of sports medicine special implant equipment. At present, the team has started cooperation with many universities and research institutes, including West China Hospital, the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Ruijin Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University. Being aimed at 330 million patients with cardiovascular diseases in China, the project creates a non-invasive diagnosis and treatment system for cardiovascular diseases, replacing invasive examination with noninvasive examination. As the first and second inventors, students have applied for five patents, participated in the process of project development and transformation, and registered a company. Currently, the project has been approved for the first batch of Achievements Transformation Fund of West China Hospital, They have signed an agreement to open an office in the Chengdu International Medical City.

The product can help the power department to timely check hidden dangers of cable, avoid the occurrence of failure, and reduce the probability of accidental power failure in the city, aiding the construction of intelligent city. Up to now, four sets of the system have been sold, and more than 20 times of pilot run have been carried out in Chengdu, Beijing, Guangzhou. The system has ensured the safe operation of about 100 km cable for over 20,000 hours.

Drawing upon blockchain technology, the team has developed the first hazardous waste information management platform in China, covering 49 kinds of hazardous waste. So far, the company has been certified as a high-tech enterprise and selected as a seed enterprise of new economy. For two consecutive years, the company has acted as an editor of the white paper on blockchain industry. Moreover, it participated in the First International Blockchain Industry Expo, 2020. It has served more than 700 enterprises such as Pengzhou Petrochemical Corporation and Xinzhongtian, covering Sichuan, Chongqing and other western provinces. It has also reduced the industry cost by more than 40 million yuan, ushering in a new era of intelligent management of hazardous waste.

Drawing upon their discipline advantages and medical expertise, the "Red Button" team has stayed in seven national poverty-stricken counties of Liangshan Prefecture for four consecutive years since 2016, and investigated the local medical services and AIDS disease situation. Specifically speaking, they visited seven counties, 65 villages and 15 patient concentrated areas. They provided services for 42,600 AIDS patients, and raised the local people and AIDS patients’ awareness of AIDs and self-protection. In addition, the team has trained the local medical staff, developed bilingual training courses and audio-visual materials in Chinese and Yi language. By improving the medical staff’s awareness and skills of AIDS prevention, the team helped reduce the infection rate of endemic diseases, preventing people from falling back into poverty due to illness.
