From July 6th to 7th, the International Seminar on Green Development and Social Governance hosted by Sichuan University and the Institute of Political Science, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was held in Chengdu. More than 160 experts and scholars from well-known universities and research institutions at home and abroad, including: Oxford University, Syracuse University, Nottingham Trent University, University of Texas at San Antonio, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Sichuan University, as well as leaders and editors of well-known domestic journals and magazines, attended the forum.
Professor Shijing Yan, Vice President of SCU, Mr. Ning Fang, Party Secretary of the Institute of Political Science, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Mingjun Zhang, Vice President of East China University of Political Science and Law, and Associate Professor Thomas Nathan Hale of Brawani Government College, the University of Oxford, attended the opening ceremony and addressed the audience in turn. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Yungui Shi, Dean of the School of Public Administration, SCU. While this event was presided over by Professor Xiaoping Jiang, well-known experts and scholars at home held wonderful keynote speeches on this occasion.
The Seminar included six parallel sessions: green development and green governance, local governance innovation, social governance innovation, urban development and public policy, grassroots democracy and community governance, and the young scholars forum, as well as journal editors and scholars exchange meetings, public administration discipline construction& deans' forum. All of these efforts aim to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation in the fields of green development and social governance, meet the challenges encountered therein, and improve the relevant researches to promote the green development on the national and global level, and boost the modernization of the national governance system and capacity, thus providing valuable reference for theoretical and practical innovations in building a beautiful country and a community of shared future for mankind.
