Linan Zeng of West China Second University Hospital Has Become the only Chinese Member of WHO REACT Working Group

Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) released the first set of guidelines for the drug treatment of new coronavirus - "Corticosteroids for COVID-19" living guidance. Driven by the urgent need to develop reliable and sustainable updated guidelines through global cooperation,WHOcooperated with the international guide making organization MAGIC (Making GRADE the Irresistible Choice) Evidence Ecosystem Foundation, which provided methodological support to develop the guidelines.

As a core member of MAGIC, Linan Zeng, a pharmacist from West China Second University Hospital of our university, was recommended to participate in the formulation of WHO guidelines for the treatment of new coronavirus drugs. The working group is composed of clinical experts, public health experts, patient representatives and methodists from 16 countries around the world. Linan Zeng is the only Chinese member in the methodology group, reflecting the international contribution of Sichuan University in global public health emergencies.

The guidelines timely translate high-quality clinical research evidence into recommendations to guide clinical front-line work, and provide guidance for global health policy and medical practice during the pandemic. With the publication of more relevant clinical studies, the guidelines are being constantly updated. As a member of the Methods group, Linan Zeng will continue to participate in the updating of the guidelines.
