On the afternoon of July 18th, the World-Class University Construction Office (WUCO) conducted a meeting "Development of First-class Academic Subjects" in Room 231 of Graduate School. Present at the meeting were directors, vice directors of Personnel Department and Finance Department, deputy directors in charge of academic subjects development in individual colleges, primary scientists, professors and coordinators of first-class academic subjects.
Mr. Baofu Wang, director of Finance Department, made a report about the allocation and expenditure of funds designated for the development of double first- class academic subjects. Then, he had a lively discussion with the representatives at the meeting.
Deputy director of World-Class University Construction Office, Mr. Huaming Chen reported on how 2018 funds had been utilized concerning the development of individual first-class academic subjects and research fields. He also explained how this would affect funds for academic subjects development. Finally, the deputy director implored all work units to accelerate the development of first-class academic subjects and research fields scientifically and efficiently.
Mr. Zhong-ming Li, director of the World-Class University Construction Office, made an excellent report on Sichuan University’s contribution to ESI academic subjects in the period of 2008-2017. Moreover, Director Li talked about the overall performances of ESI academic subjects at Sichuan University, the contributions of each college and institute as well as individual academic subjects and research fields. He urged all faculty to work on the global influence of academic subjects given the statistics of research papers. Director Li stressed that all work units should improve their scientific research and innovation. They were supposed to deepen scientific research cooperation at home and abroad, attach importance to the number of citations and improve the quality of research papers. Finally, he called on all work units of the university to work together to speed up the construction of "Double-First Class" project at Sichuan University.
