From October 29th to November 1st, the Ministry of Education accreditation team conducted an on-site verification of SCU Clinical Medicine as a part of its accreditation procedure. Mr. Mengfeng Li, Vice President of Zhongshan University, is the director; and Theanne Walters, deputy chief executive officer of Australian Medical Council, is the deputy director.
The opening ceremony was held in Mingde Building of Wangjiang Campus on the Morning of October 29th. Present at the ceremony were the experts of accreditation team, vice chairman Xiangcheng Li, and two vice presidents Rongjun Li, and Lin Zhang, among other directors from relevant departments. Vice President Rongjun Li presided over this ceremony.
On behalf of SCU, Xiangcheng Li extends his warm welcome and gratitude toward the experts. He indicates that three SCU academic subjects have ranked in thetop 1‰ by ESI. And Clinical Medicine is one of them. Having a long history, West China College of Medicine has a solid foundation and rich resources. It has made a great contribution to China’s medicine in terms of talents training, scientific research and social services.
Mengfeng Li explains the verification work. And he has introduced the background, purpose and methods of accreditation of Clinical Medicine. He expects SCU’s relevant departments, offices, faculties and students to cooperate with accreditation experts to ensure that the accreditation work go smoothly.
Vice President Lin Zhang makes a report on accreditation of Clinical Medicine. He indicates that it is the goal of Sichuan University to build a world first-class university with Chinese characteristics and an SCU style. In order to develop medicine, SCU has founded West China Medical Center to manage medical education. The next step is to implement the “Five Plans” in the construction of the best undergraduate school and build SCU Medical School into the best medical school.
During the verification, the experts read materials, listen to reports, conduct discussions with relevant personnel and inspect the affiliated hospitals.
The feedback meeting was held in Mingde Building on the morning of November 1st. SCU vice president Rongjun Li and Shi Chang of the experts group presided over the meeting. Present at the meeting were all the experts, Vice Chairman Jing Jing of the university council and directors from relevant departments.
Director Mengfeng Li announces “Preliminary Accreditation Report on Clinical Medicine of Sichuan University”, acknowledging the achievement that SCU has made in medicine education. He also put forward suggestions for improvement. He states that the expert group is deeply impressed with the rich heritage and outstanding real-world achievements of Huaxi (West China) Medicine. They have great veneration for the faculties and students for their commitment to human health, their insight into medical education and their dedication to teaching. The experts group believes that Huaxi Medical School will continue to be a leader in China’s medical education and bring up more medical professionals, eventually becoming a world first-class discipline.
On behalf of the university, Vice Chairman Jing Jing of Sichuan University Council expresses her gratitude toward the group of experts for their fruitful work and speaks of their professionalism in veneration. Furthermore, she indicates that SCU will understand and accept the experts’ opinions and suggestions without reservations. More work will be done to accelerate the project to build Clinical Medicine into a first-class discipline and contribute to the development of healthy China.
