Entrusted by China Engineering Education Accreditation Association, the materials science expert group of China Engineering Education Accreditation Association has come to SCU for an onsite inspection of professional certification for Inorganic Non-Metal Material Engineering in College of Material Science and Engineering.The group leader is Professor Jinhai Wang of Anhui Tongling Nonferrous Group Co., Ltd.; other members are Professor Junlin Xie of Wuhan University of Technology, Professor Huaihe Song of Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Associate Professor Xuejin Zhang of Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology.
The meeting took place in the conference room of the administration building. Vice President Weilin Xu, heads of educational administration, Student Affairs Department, Personnel Department, World Class Construction Office and other relevant functional departments, heads of the College of Material Science and Engineering, all teachers of Inorganic Non-Metal Material Engineering and relevant administrative personnel attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Vice President Xu expressed on behalf of the university a warm welcome to the expert group. Then, Professor Jinhai Wang explained the basic principles, purposes and meaning of the engineering education accreditation.Professor Li Gou, who is in charge of Inorganic Non-Metal Material Engineering, reported about the major including the basic situation, training objectives, graduation requirements, quality assurance and training effectiveness.The expert group raised questions on the orientation of Inorganic Non-Metal Material major, the formulation of training plan, advisors, graduation requirements and continuous improvement. The relevant functional departments of SCU, the leaders of the College of Material Science and Engineering and the Inorganic Non-Metal Material Department teachers answered the questions.
During the investigation, the expert group carried out on-site inspection and visits to the platform and laboratory of our university. On the basis of reviewing the professional self-evaluation report and the attached materials, the expert group consulted more than 100 graduation projects (papers), 380 examination papers, curriculum design and experimental practice reports in the past three years. The expert group listened to the introduction of laboratory management and undergraduate teaching by the relevant leaders, and attended three courses: Physical Chemistry of Inorganic Material, Physical Properties of Inorganic Material and Building Decoration Material. In addition, the expert group interviewed 88 university and college administrators, teachers, students, alumni and employers.
After the inspection, the on-site inspection feedback meeting of professional certification was held in the conference room of Wangjiang Campus Administration Building. Vice President Lin Zhang attended the feedback meeting, which was chaired by Professor Jinhai Wang.
At the meeting, the group leader, Professor Jinhai Wang, on behalf of the expert group, highly affirmed the teaching achievements of the undergraduate course and the Inorganic Non-Metal Material Engineering Department in our university, and gave feedback of the expert group. Individual experts made supplementary explanations on the on-site examination respectively, pointing out the shortcomings of the specialty in teaching plan, teaching team and so on.
Liu Ying, Dean of the College of Material Science and Engineering, expressed his gratitude to the expert group, and thanked the school and all departments for their support to the undergraduate training of the College. He also indicated that in the future, he would continue to improve the fine work of the training process, do a good job in elite personnel training, helping the construction of SCU’s "double first-class" construction.
Finally, on behalf of the university, Vice President Lin Zhang expressed his gratitude for the hard work of the expert group, and briefly introduced the undergraduate teaching reform and classroom reform in our university. He also said that Sichuan University regards student training as its fundamental task and attaches great importance to undergraduate teaching. The professional certification work has promoted the construction of Inorganic Non-Metal Material Engineering Department in our university. According to the feedback of expert group and the requirements of engineering education accreditation, the university will continue to make progress and improve the quality of talent training in an all-round way.
