On the occasion of the 15th Chinese Academy of Management Annual Conference, the China Public Administration Discipline Development Seminar convened successfully in Sichuan University on December 13. SCU’s School of Public Administration(SPA) was the host of the seminar. This seminar was held online according to the COVID-19 prevention and control requirements. Well-known Public Administration experts Ding Huang, Ju Hua, Xu Xiaodong, Li Shuzhuo, Yang Kaifeng, Xiao Bin, Wu Zhihua, Wu Jiannan, Zhang Lei, Chen Wen, Yu Jianxing, Ou Minghao, Zhi Tingjin, Zhou Zhiren, Jiang Xiaoping, Lou Chengwu, Xu Xiaolin, Huang Xinhua, Gong Weibin, Xue Lan, and others attended the meeting on invitation. The opening ceremony was presided over by Jiang Xiaoping, Secretary of the Party committee of SPA, Sichuan University.
Li Yanrong, President of Sichuan University, made a video address at the opening ceremony. He pointed out that great changes are taking place in the world and global governance is undergoing great changes. The new epidemic situation has increased our awareness of the important value of modern governance, and scientific and efficient public administration. As one of the first universities to conduct public administration research and personnel training in China, SCU will strive to make greater contributions to the modernization of national and regional governance system and governance capacity. He hoped that the experts attending the meeting would give support and help to the Public Administration discipline of Sichuan University as always.
Xue Lan, the convener of the 7th Public Administration discipline evaluation group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and Dean of the Schwarzman College of Tsinghua University, delivered a speech. He pointed out that in times of the new epidemic situation and unprecedented changes in a century, global governance and national governance are facing new problems and challenges, which have brought new topics in Public Administration. How to seize development opportunities and play a role accordingly is the mission and responsibility of Public Administration. He hoped that all experts and scholars would continue to carry forward the good tradition and join efforts in developing the discipline of Public Administration.
At the subsequent seminar, which was presided over by Professor Xue Lan, the experts discussed the central work and future development plan of Public Administration.In the meantime, SPA also hosted the online subforum of the 15th Chinese Academy of Management Annual Conference.The experts and scholars conducted in-depth discussions on the five themes of "public organization management, emergency management and major public health events, smart city and digital governance, public governance and public participation, and local government and social governance".
