The rate of graduating class students seeking further studies at home and abroad has approached 60% in College of Polymer Science and Engineering in 2019. Of the 313 college students in the graduating class, 139 students have been admitted to either Tsinghua University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences or other domestic top universities and research institutes. At the same time, more than 40 students have received letters of admission from top overseas universities such as Imperial College London, Kyoto University of Japan, University of California and so on.

Over the past 60 years, Sichuan University has stood by the principle of "seeking truth and innovation" in Polymer Science and Engineering, and it has always placed undergraduate training at the core of its development. During years of an adviser system throughout undergraduate school, the college has developed a student training model which combines fundamental teaching with vigorous innovation, and guides students' professional training with high-level scientific research. Starting from 2017, the college has implemented the "Learning Morale Construction Project" to further improve the quality of talent cultivation. As a national key discipline, SCU College of Polymer Science and Engineering has been focusing on the goal of a "double first-class" university, and striving to build Polymer Science and Engineering into an international first-class discipline. In addition to improving the quality of student training and maintaining the rate of students seeking further studies in China, the college will continue to assist students to broaden their international horizons and enhance their innovative learning ability. The college will also strive to lay a solid foundation for the cultivation of first-class talents with global competitiveness.
