On April 2, the university held the appointment ceremony of honorary professors in Mingde Building of Wangjiang Campus, and academicians Claire Voisin and Jean-Michel Coron of French Academy of Sciences were appointed as honorary professors of Sichuan University. Academician Li Anmin of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Vice President You Jinsong and other relevant units of the university participate in the appointment ceremony.
On behalf of the university, You Jinsong expressed his welcome and thanks to Academician Claire Voisin and Academician Jean-Michel Coron, and briefly introduced the basic situation of the university. He pointed out that the university is currently accelerating the construction of world-class universities. He believes thathiring the two academicians as honorary professors of Sichuan University will strongly promote the construction of mathematics disciplines. Claire Voisin is a French mathematician. She focuses on complex algebraic geometry and has solved two previously insurmountable problems. She disproved Kodaira's theorem and solved the Kodairaproblem. She also proved US mathematician Mark Green's theories about the syzygies of canonicalcurves.
The brief introduction of Jean-Michel Coron:
Jean-Michel Coron has been a Researcher with Mines ParisTech, then an Associate Professor with Ecole Polytechnique, and a Full Professor with Université Paris-Sud. He is currently a Full Professor with Sorbonne Université, Paris, France. His research interests include nonlinear partial differential equations and nonlinear control theory.Dr. Coron is a member of the French Academy of Sciences. He was the recipient of the ICIAM Maxwell prize in 2015 and the Reid prize in 2017.
