The fourth Teachers congress and the seventh session of the third Trade Union congress were held on Wangjiang Campus on February 17. Chairman Gan Lin of the university council, President Li Yanrong and other university leaders, retired leaders Lu Tiecheng, Lin Libin, Yan Guosen, Wang Qi (academician of CAE), distinguished professors Zhong Benhe, Zhan Shishuan, Xu Jiuping and Zuo Weimin attended the meeting. Also present at the meeting were members of the "two committees" of SCU, all mid-level cadres, heads of democratic parties and united front organizations, CPPCC members of municipal people's congresses and above. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Liang Bin.
Li Yanrong delivered the Annual Work Report of the University. In the report, he briefly reviewed the major work progress of university in 2022, and announced the list of priorities for 2023. In the past year, the university focused on three major events: to welcome, learn and publicize a series of theme activities of the 20thParty Congress of the CPC; to successfully hold the ninth Party Congress of the university; and comprehensively accelerate the second round of "double first-class" development. In addition, the fifth round of discipline evaluation achieved excellent results.
Li Yanrong stressed that the general idea and main guideline of university work in 2023 is: emphasizing the orientation of training first-class talent, serving national needs and striving for world-class excellence, promoting the Partybuilding and "double first-class" development of the university with high quality, and focusing on improving the quality of discipline development and scientific research innovation. We will intensify efforts to deepen cooperation between the university and the city, strengthen high-end international exchanges and cooperation, and continuously improve the level of school governance.
Gan Lin pointed out in his speech that this meeting is an important meeting held under the background of in-depth study and implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and accelerating the development of world-class universities with Chinese characteristics.
Being faced with unprecedented changes and epidemics of a century, the university has scientifically coordinated epidemic prevention and cause development in the past three years. All the teachers, students and staff have helped one another to meet the challenges, and pushed the university to make great progress in various aspects of work. In the new year, SCU needs to study and carry out the guiding principles of the Party’s 20thcongress. Led by the development of first-class disciplines, the university should strive to train high-quality students, train high-level talent, strengthen high-level scientific research, and enhance its ability to contribute to mankind. All the staff should focus on the goals and tasks, and promote the implementation of various work arrangements of the university.
During the conference, group discussions and presidium meetings were conducted. Gan Lin, Li Yanrong and other university leaders joined different delegations, participated in the discussions and listened carefully to the opinions of the representatives.
At the closing ceremony, Jiang Yongmu, head of the first delegation and dean of the School of Economics, Zhao Changsheng, head of the second delegation and dean of the College of Polymer Science and Engineering, Huang Yong, head of the fourth delegation and Secretary of the Party Committee of the West China Second University Hospital, Lin Honghui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Life Sciences and representative of mid-level cadres of the university, and Wan Xuehong, executive vice president of the Graduate School gave speeches respectively. In the end, the General Assembly unanimously adopted the General Assembly Resolution.
Before the conference, the university also held a preliminary meeting of the "two congresses". Liang Bin introduced the adoption of the themes and topics, and explained the preparations for the conference. Director Jiang Wenqing of the Finance Department made the "University Financial Work Report".
