Sichuan University held the 10th Global Forum for Young Scholars at theNational Entrepreneurship and Innovation Demonstration Basein Wangjiang Campus on the afternoon of November 23. President Li Yanrong, Vice President Liang Bin, heads of provincial, municipal and university related departments, and more than 500 young scholars from Harvard University, Cambridge University and other world-class universities and research institutions gathered online to talk about development. The forum has one main venue and 49 sub venues. On the forum, the participants watched the talent recruitment video "Search" of Sichuan University. The forum was hosted by Liang Bin.
Li Guogui, deputy director of the organization department of the provincial Party committee, congratulated on the opening of the forum and welcomed the participants. He briefly introduced Sichuan's cultural history, regional advantages, economic strength, and scientific and technological innovation capabilities, especially a series of policies supporting domestic and foreign elites to work in Sichuan. He hoped that young talent would come to Sichuan and Sichuan University to display their talents and achieve self-fulfillment.
Yu Xiaoqi, the director of the provincial education department, introduced the development of education in Sichuan province. He hoped that young scholars would come to Sichuan to do business and realize their dreams.
Peng Chongshi, deputy director of the organization department of the CPC Chengdu municipal Committee, spoke mainly of Chengdu's economic, technological, industrial and favorable living environment as well as the support system that attracts and supports talent to work in Chengdu in recent years.
Li Yanrong, on behalf of the university and Chairman Gan Lin, welcomed the young talent attending the conference and expounded on "why young talent choose to return to China and join Sichuan University". He said that various undertakings of Sichuan University have been thriving in recent years, and the university has built a large number of national scientific research platforms, providing a broad career development stage for young talent. The interdisciplinary integration represented by "medicine+" and "information+" provides a good soil for innovation. The diversified evaluation mechanism and relatively loose environment of comprehensive universities create a good atmosphere for the growth of talent of different types. The livable environment in Chengdu, the competitive salary and benefits of the university, the complete education facilities for children and the quality healthcare of the West China Medicine have created a good living condition for the families of young talent. The second stage of the forum was presided over by Wu Yao, the director of the personnel department of SCU. Yang Wei, the director of the human resources office, introduced the university's talent policy, Wu Mei, the vice director of the scientific research institute, introduced SCU’s scientific research (natural science) related policy. Zhang Hongsong, the executive deputy director of the social sciences department, introduced the scientific research (humanities and social sciences) related policy.
This forum has received extensive attention from young scholars. The university's 14th “Five-Year Plan" and "Innovation 2035" program make everyone look forward to the future of Sichuan University. The young scholars hope to visit SCU as soon as possible to better their understanding and seek common development.
