The unveiling ceremony of Tianfu Jincheng Laboratory, which was led by Sichuan University, was held in Chengdu Future Science and Technology City in the afternoon of November 23. Shi Xiaolin, secretary of the municipal Party committee, the mayor Wang Fengchao, Wu Qunggang, director of the provincial department of science and technology, Xie Ruiwu, deputy secretary of the municipal Party committee; President Li Yanrong of SCU, Zhang Xingdong(academician of CAE), Vice President Ye Ling of SCU, Li Weimin, president of the West China Hospital, Li Zhengchi, secretary of the Party committee of the hospital, among others, attended the unveiling ceremony.
In his speech, Li Yanrong said that the West China Medicine has taken the lead in building a number of national platforms in recent years, laying a good foundation for the construction of the Tianfu Jincheng Laboratory. The laboratory will strengthen cooperation with the co construction work units and aim at scientific and technological innovation in advanced medical technology, high-end medical devices, and key biotechnology. It will strive to build a new highland of medical and health industry and a globally competitive scientific and technological innovation platform of "future medical innovation and frontier exploration, and mutual promotion and integration of medical education, research and production", and reinforce the promotion of West China Medicine into a world class medicine.
Leaders of relevant provincial and municipal departments said that they would introduce a series of policies to fully guarantee the laboratory construction in scientific research projects, talent introduction, achievements transformation, etc.

The Tianfu Jincheng Laboratory focuses on five research directions: cutting-edge biotechnology, advanced medical technology, original new drugs, precision medicine, and high-precision medical devices. It explores the interdisciplinary innovation through the integration of multiple fields and "medicine+industry", and enables 10 major industrial racetracks such as stem cell therapy, digital diagnosis and treatment, synthetic biology, brain science, vaccines, blood products, high-end preparations, high-end biomaterials, stomatology, medical aesthetics, etc. The laboratory is located in the Future Medical City of Chengdu Eastern New Area and the Frontier Medical Center of Chengdu High tech Zone. The Tianfu Jincheng Laboratory (Future Medical City) plans to employ Zhang Xingdong of our university as the honorary director of the laboratory, the Tianfu Jincheng Laboratory (Frontier Medical Center) plans to employ professor Li Wei-min as the director, and academician Wei Yuquan(academician of CAS) of our university as the director of the first academic committee.
Li Weimin said that the construction of Tianfu Laboratory is conducive to gathering high-end innovation elements in a wider range and helping Chengdu accelerate the development of a science and technology innovation center with national influence. The West China Hospital of Sichuan University will take advantage of this opportunity to build the Tianfu Jincheng Laboratory into a driving force for the development of cutting-edge medical science and technology innovation and biomedicine industry that leads the country and influences the world, and create a new growth pole to drive the development of regional medical and health industry.
