The 2022 Global Alumni Association President/Secretary General Meeting of Sichuan University was held in Zhanye building of our university on October 28. Li Yanrong, the president, Zhang Wei, deputy secretary of the SCU Party committee, heads of relevant units of the university, leaders of each college in charge of alumni work, presidents, secretaries general and alumni representatives of individual alumni branches attended the meeting either online or offline.

Chen Sen, the director of the External Liaison Office of the university and secretary general of the alumni association, made a 2021-2022 annual work report on the achievements and gains of the past year in hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the rank and file alumni, and promote the high-quality development of the university. Wang Qi, President of Qingdao Alumni Association, Bai Yunsheng, Secretary General of Beijing Medical Alumni Association, Ye Lang, President of Chengdu Law School Alumni Association, Lv Linqiang, Executive Vice President of the Global Alumni Entrepreneurs Association, Qu Yunpeng, President of the Swiss Alumni Association, Hu Yirong, Secretary General of the Alumni Association of the College of Literature and Journalism and vice dean of the College of Literature and Journalism respectively made speeches, sharing the experience and practices of doing a good job in alumni contact and service. Deng Chengliang, a doctoral candidate of the College of Chemistry, and Li Sheng, an alumnus of the College of Water Resource and Hydropower, shared their work and growth experiences in a video speech. They thanked their alma mater for training, and called on all the alumni to make new contributions to the development of their alma mater into a world-class university.

In his speech, Li Yanrong, on behalf of the university and Chairman Gan Lin of the university council, welcomed all the alumni and expressed his gratitude to nearly a million alumni at home and abroad for their long-term concern and support for the alma mater through the alumni representatives in attendance. He said that the university has made significant progress in recent years, with the joint efforts of all teachers, students and the alumni, in the development of "double first-class" status, and made important breakthroughs in the core competitiveness of talent team, scientific research and innovation, talent training, discipline development, social services, etc. He said that alumni serve as valuable name cards of the university. They reflect directly the school running level, and are an important force to promote the high-quality development of the university. He hoped that the alumni will often come back for a visit, care for and support the development of the alma mater in various ways, and contribute wisdom and strength to the university in accelerating the development of a world-class university.

Zhang Wei pointed out that it is an important part of the university development to share the achievements and experiences of the alumni associations in different aspects and exchange achievements and development of each of the alumni. He hoped that the alumni will shine in their respective posts, contribute to the development of their alma mater and make new and greater contributions to the comprehensive construction of a socialist modern country.
