On the occasion of its 130th anniversary, the West China Hospital of Sichuan University provided on October 30th its biggest pro bono clinic service since its founding. The opening ceremony of the free clinic service licked off at 8:30 a.m. in the square outside the outpatient department of WCH. Song Shigui, deputy director of Sichuan Health Commission, Li Wei-min, president of WCH, Li Zhengchi, secretary of the Party committee of WCH, and all hospital leaders attended the free clinic service. In addition to the participating West China Hospital medical staff, patients and their families, 14 hospitals either affiliated with or under the auspices of the West China Hospital took part in the opening ceremony online.
Patients and their families entered the free clinic area orderly and began to queue up in front of the "tent" of each department of their choice at 9:00 a.m. Many of the medical doctors participating in the free clinic are well-known experts, including Ouyang Qin, Kuang Anren and other West China Hospital tenured professors. Ouyang Qin, who is 82 years old, has taken part in all the free clinic services of the hospital. The patients and their families all said that the way how the West China Hospital celebrated its 130th birthday was truly beneficial to the people.
58 departments and 130 sub specialties participated in this free clinic, and 1,300 medical personnel provided 130,00 free clinic services both online and offline. At the same time, 14 affiliated hospitals including West China Xiamen Hospital of Sichuan University, West China Tianfu Hospital of Sichuan University, West China Sanya Hospital of Sichuan University, and Guang'an Hospital of the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, also held large-scale free clinic services locally. According to statistics, the West China Hospital and its 14 affiliated hospitals have served 130,000 patients both online and offline.
