The National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences publicized its list of recipients of the National Social Science Fund of China for youth projects and western projects on Sept. 30. SCU got 64 projects approved for the fund, ranking first among the Chinese universities. Of the approved projects, six are state key projects.
The National Social Science Fund project currently is the only national level research project of humanities and social sciences in China, which represents the national level of humanities and social sciences and is an important indicator to measure the scientific research productivity of a work unit. Since 2017, SCU ranked first among universities in China in 4 years in terms of the number of general projects approved by NSSFC, and the total number of projects is 286 in the past five years, ranking first among universities in China.
The newly approved projects of our university for the year 2022 include 6 state key projects, 36 general ones, 14 youth and 8 western ones. The projects involve a total of 20 academic subjects: Philosophy (7), Chinese Literature (6), Sociology (5), Library, Information and Documentary Science(5, which is No. 1 in China), Chinese History (6). Ethnology (5), Applied Economics (4), International Studies (4), Archaeology (3), Religious Studies (3), two projects in Theoretical Economics, Law, Marxism Leninism Science Sciences, Linguistics, Journalism and Communication Studies, Foreign Literature respectively, and one in Political Science, Demography, CPC Party History and Party Building and Management respectively.
The approved projects are from 16 work units. Specifically, the College of Literature and Journalism has 12 projects, ranking first; the School of Public Administration ranks 2nd with 11 projects, followed by the School of History and Cultures (Tourism, the School of Archaeology and Museology ) (9), the School of International Studies (6), the College of Marxism, (5), the Department of Philosophy (5), the School of Economics (4), the Institute of Daoism and Religious Culture (3), the School of Law (2), and one project respectively from the Interdisciplinary Center for Culture, Science and Technology, Institute of Ancient Books, Institute of South Asian Studies, College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Arts College, Library, College of Architecture and Environment.
