The transformation of scientific and technological achievements is an important part of scientific activities in colleges and universities, and an important way for colleges and universities to serve social and economic development. The transformation of scientific and technological achievements is also one of the evaluation indicators for the development of world-class universities and first-class disciplines. “The 2021 Annual Report on the Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements in China” (Institutions of higher learning and scientific research institutions) (hereinafter referred to as the "report") was released on June 29, and SCU performed well.

According to the report, SCU’s total value of scientific and technological achievements transformation contracts amounts to 1.677 billion yuan, ranking fifth among universities in China. Specifically, the monetary value of contracts based on licensing, transfer and pricing investment is 844million yuan, ranking second nationwide.

In recent years, our university has placed great importance on scientific and technological innovation and the transfer and transformation of achievements, leading transformation with innovation and driving innovation with transformation. The university has actively explored the transformation mechanism of scientific and technological achievements, issued “The Action Plan for the Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements of Sichuan University (Trial)”, and streamlined the innovation research, development, transfer and transformation system from basic research to application development, achievement transfer and transformation, industrialization, and enterprise incubation. In 2019, SCU was selected into the first batch of "university scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer bases" of the Ministry of Education. In 2020, it was selected into the first batch of "pilot units for the reform of giving scientific researchers the title of scientific and technological achievements or long-term use rights"; the first batch of "National Intellectual Property Demonstration Universities" by the China National Intellectual Property Administration, MOE and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Additionally, it was selected into the first batch of "pilot units for the development of specialized national technology transfer institutions in universities" by the Ministry of Science and Technology and MOE in 2021.
