The 2022 University Immersion Program (UIP) of Sichuan University officially opened on June 26. This year marks the 10th international course week that SCU has conducted. With the theme of "gathering global high-quality resources and cultivating top-notch innovative talent", it has invited 120 experts and scholars from 25 countries to offer 123 courses online.
In the past decade, Sichuan University has provided every student with the opportunity to enjoy world-class educational resources on campus via the two-week UIP. During UIP this year, students will take online courses by masters from world-class universities such as Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Kyoto University, the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and more than 10,000 students will attend classes and lectures online. Some courses are open to the students of Hubei Minzu University and Northwest Minzu University which are in partnership with our university. It is reported that the Famous Teachers' Lectures, a series of lectures of the University Immersion Program, will also be held at the same time.
On behalf of SCU, President Li Yanrong congratulated the opening of UIP in a video address and welcomed teachers and students from all over the world. He pointed out that UIP represents an important platform of education, talent training and international cooperation. UIP offers students with a unique opportunity to broaden perspectives, explore the frontier of learning, quest for new knowledge and expand your friendship circle. Together with young people around the world, we strive to build a human community with a shared future. At the opening ceremony, Andrea Ghez, one of the winners of the 2020 Nobel Prize in physics and professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), was invited to give a speech entitled "A Journey from Childhood Dream to Nobel Prize - My Story with Astrophysics". The opening video and the special guest lecture were launched simultaneously on the Wechat official account and the official microblog of "Sichuan University" at 8:00 p.m. that night, and were widely praised.
