The Ministry of Education(MOE) recently issued the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on Publishing the List of National and Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Specialty Development Sites in 2021.  Sichuan University has 30 majors selected for the list of national first-class undergraduate specialty development sites, and 10 majors selected for the provincial first-class undergraduate specialty development sites. In the "double 10-thousand plan" of specialty development, our university has got the approval for a total of 93 national first-class undergraduate specialty development sites and 35 provincial first-class undergraduate specialty ones, ranking among the first-tier pack in the country.

The “double 10-thousand plan”, which was launched by the Ministry of Education in 2019, will build about 10,000 national first-class undergraduate majors and 10,000 provincial first-class undergraduate ones. The plan is in full swing.

In recent years, Sichuan University has focused on the development of first-class undergraduate majors. First, adhere to optimizing the structure and building a reasonable professional layout. Second, adhere to the principle of "quality for strength" and promote the curriculum of high-quality courses. Third, adhere to accurate efforts to serve major national needs. Promote collaboration with world-class universities, and take the initiative to connect with the “Belt and Road” development. Fourth, adhere to interdisciplinary and innovative talent training. Actively explore the training of interdisciplinary professionals, and put forward clear requirements for students to take courses outside their own major. Fifth, adhere to the interaction of evaluation and construction, and improve the quality assurance system. In 2021, MOE reported the achievements of the University's specialty development "Sichuan University actively promotes the connotative development of undergraduate majors" on its official website. The university will further deepen the connotative development of first-class specialties, promote the high-quality development of top-notch innovative talent training, and make greater contributions in the new era.
