On May 25, the university held the theme activity of "5 · 25" College Students' Mental Health Day of Sichuan University and a meeting to promote mental health education in the Waterfront Auditorium of Jiang'an campus. Guo Yong and Zhang Wei, deputy secretaries of the university Party committee, principals of relevant units and representatives of teachers and students attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Liu Xiaohu, director of the student affairs department.
At the meeting, Wang Yingmei, director of the mental health education center, reported on work concerning the “5 · 25” mental health month in 2022 and the key work of mental health education in the next step. Teachers and student representatives from the West China School of Medicine and the Business School shared ideas on mental health education.
Zhang Wei read off the “Opinions on comprehensively promoting the development of second-tier counseling stations of the college” and presented the plaques to the second batch of second-tier counseling stations. He pointed out that our university has promoted the development of second-tier counseling stations since 2020, which made positive contributions to mental health education at the university. The university will further consolidate resources and care about the mental health of students in a comprehensive fashion.
Guo Yong pointed out in his speech that SCU has always attached great importance to students' mental health. The new era has come with higher requirements for mental health work. Thus, the university should reinforce their characteristics and make up for weaknesses.
Before the meeting, teachers and students visited the theme exhibition of Sichuan University '5 · 25' College Students' Mental Health Month. The Mental Health Month campaign started on March 25 and lasted for two months with organized activities at the university level and the college level as well. 93 activities were conducted throughout the university, including 17 university level activities and 76 college level ones. They have popularized scientific mental health knowledge and enhanced students' mental health awareness.
