SCU established the School of Carbon Neutrality Future Technology and the School of Intelligent Science and Technologyat its conference to promote the second phase development of "double first-class" status on March 18. Chairman Wang Jianguo of the university council, President Li Yanrong, academicians Gao Jie, Xie Heping, Wei Yuquan, Zhang Xingdong, Shi Bi, He Kebin, Jiang Song, Wang Qi, Xu Weilin, the distinguished professors of Cao Shunqing, Zhong Benhe, Zhan Shichuang, and Huo Wei jointly inaugurated the two new schools, thus, fully promoting disciplinary integration and the development of new engineering disciplines. Dai Qionghai, professor of Tsinghua University and chairman of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence(CAAI), delivered a congratulatory speech. At the subsequent high-end forum on the development of new engineering, Chai Tianyou, an academician of CAE and former director of the Department of Information Sciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chen Lin, an academician of CAS, He Kebin, an academician of CAE and professor of Tsinghua University and Xie Heping, an academician of CAE, made keynote reports on the topics of new generation artificial intelligence, carbon neutralization technology and so on.

Hao Jiming, an academician of CAE, is the honorary president of the School of Carbon Neutrality Future Technology. Shi Bi serves as the president of the newly established school, and Xie Heping is the director of the academic committee of the school. Centering on the major national strategic needs of carbon neutrality technology and innovation, the school will focus on carbon neutralization future technology, strive for breakthroughs in the key technologies of carbon neutralization, build a first-class carbon neutrality future technology college with international influence, and cultivate innovative top-notch talent for the development of carbon neutralization in China. Moreover, drawing upon the two scientific research platforms of the National FGD Engineering Technology Center (FGD) and the New Energy and Low Carbon Institute, the school will give full play to the university’s interdisciplinary features and advantages based on the disciplines of Environment, Materials, Light Industry, Water Conservancy, Electrical Engineering, Ecology, Chemical Engineering, conduct high-level scientific research, and make contributions to the cause of carbon neutralization in China.
A well-known academician will serve as the director of the academic committee of the School of Intelligent Science and Technology. Chai Tianyou, Chen Lin, Dai Qionghai and Jiang Song, a research fellow of the Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics, act as the construction consultants. Professor Lv Jiancheng is the dean of the school, and Professor Zhang Yi is the director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence. The School will focus on the Artificial Intelligence. It will concentrate on cultivating interdisciplinary talent, developing a first-class teaching staff, and making major research achievements by virtue of amalgamating computer science and technology, software engineering, mathematics, control science and engineering, clinical medicine and other related disciplines.
