The Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory was launched in the Tianfu New District on December 23.Shi Xiaolin, Secretary of the Chengdu municipal Party committee, Wang Fengchao, mayor of Chengdu, Wu Qungang, director of Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Zhang Yuanhang, academician of CAE, He Kebin, academician of CAE, President Li Yanrong of Sichuan University, Xu Weilin, executive vice president of SCU and academician of CAE, Shi Bi, academician of CAE, and vice president Chu Liangyin attended the launch ceremony. Leaders of relevant departments directly under the Sichuan provincial government, relevant leaders of Chengdu and participating colleges and universities, among others, also attended the launch ceremony.

Shi Xiaolin, deputy director Bao Hui, Wang Fengchao, Zhang Yuanhang, director of the Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory, and He Kebin, director of the academic committee jointly unveiled the plaque of Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory.

The laboratory focuses on three research directions: zero-carbon energy, carbon neutralization, geothermal and carbon sink. Drawing upon Peking University, Tsinghua University, Sichuan University and other units, the Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory is jointly constructed by key units such as the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Tsinghua University Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, SPIC, the State Grid Corporation of China and Dongfang Electrics. The laboratory adopts the construction mode of "core + base + network", with a total investment of RMB 7 billion in phase I.

Sichuan University leads the research direction of carbon neutralization, and Shi Bi serves as the chief scientist. The research direction of carbon neutralization consists of three research centers. Shi Bi leads the research center for biomass zero carbon utilization; Wang Qi and Wang Yuzhong, academicians of CAE, lead the research center for polymer carbon neutralization, and Professor Jiangxia leads the research center for zero-carbon fuel, pollution reduction and carbon reduction. On behalf of the university, Shi Bi gave a report on the significance, key contents, research basis and objectives of the carbon neutralization research to the leaders and guests.
