Chairman Wang Jianguo of the university council and President Li Yanrong led a team to Yibin, Meishan and Zigong to promote university-region cooperation as well as the implementation of cooperation projects on December 9 and 10. Executive vice president Xu Weilin, vice presidents Hou Taiping, Zhang Lin and Chu Liangyin, and principals of relevant units participated in the research and investigation activities.
A meeting and signing ceremony on deepening cooperation between SCU and Yibin City were held.
In his speech, Liu Zhongbo, Secretary of Yibin municipal Party committee, congratulated our university on its remarkable achievements in recent years and pointed out that SCU and Yibin have a deep friendship and solid foundation for cooperation. In recent years, the two sides have carried out extensive cooperation and set up a model of university-region cooperation. He hopes that SCU will continue to vigorously support Yibin in its efforts to accelerate the construction of a regional central city of the state.
Li Yanrong said that Yibin has developed very well economically and socially and the city is thriving in recent years. Sichuan University gives high priority to exchanges and cooperation with Yibin. Next, the university will strengthen and speed up the pace to promote the high-quality economic and social development of Yibin.
On behalf of the university, Wang Jianguo thanked Yibin City and Sichuan Yibin Wuliangye Group Ltd. for their long-term support to SCU. He said that the city-university cooperation has achieved, with the joint efforts of both parties, fruitful results since the opening of the Yibin Park of Sichuan University. Moreover, Sichuan University will further implement the bilateral cooperation agreement and make the Yibin Park of Sichuan University better.
According to the agreement, the two sides will work closely to build Yibin base for the joint training of graduate students and promote the cooperation between Yibin’s enterprises and relevant departments of Sichuan University in graduate training and technological innovation. Also, both sides will intensify cooperation in medicine by making full use of the advantages of West China School of Medicine, consolidate high-quality clinical medical resources in Yibin, and build a training base of general practice doctors and specialists and a residents' health education center. We will deepen cooperation in public health, conduct training to improve comprehensive public health management, and build a platform for the research and development as well as transformation of public health-related products.
During their stay in Yibin, Wang Jianguo and Li Yanrong went to the Yibin Park of Sichuan University to visit teachers and students and investigated the development of the park. They also went to the Eastern Industrial Park of Sanjiang New Area and the Wuliangye Group to understand the development needs of enterprises and investigate the development of industry-university-research integration.
The symposium on the project of the Meishan campus of Sichuan University was held in Meishan.
At the meeting, Liao Xiaoning, a leader of Meishan municipal government, and Xu Weilin, vice president of SCU, respectively introduced the Meishan campus construction and future work suggestions on behalf of the city and the university. In his speech, Hu Yuankun, Secretary of Meishan municipal Party committee, thanked SCU for its strong support to Meishan and briefly introduced the economic and social development in recent years.
President Li Yanrong pointed out that SCU has actively promoted the construction of Meishan campus mainly by continuously deepening and refining the functional positioning of Meishan campus over the past year. In the next step, the university should focus on building a pioneer science and technology city of Sichuan University so as to provide a broad space and stage for aspirational and industrious young talent.
Wang Jianguo said that the construction of Meishan campus is an important measure of SCU to serve the major national strategy, the development of Chengdu-Chongqing twin city economic circle as well as the Chengdu metropolitan area. Sichuan University will promote the construction of Meishan campus with world-class standards and high quality.
The Sichuan University-Zigong symposium on deepening cooperation and exchange was held in Zigong.
Fan Bo, Secretary of Zigong municipal Party committee, welcomed President Li Yanrong and his party, thanked Sichuan University for its long standing support and help to Zigong, and briefly introduced the economic and social development of Zigong in recent years. President Li Yanrong briefly introduced the new progress SCU has made in talent training, scientific research innovation and discipline development in recent years. He said that the university will continue to give full play to its own advantages and continuously deepen its cooperation with Zigong City in the future.
During the investigation, Li Yanrong and his party also visited Zigong Salt Industry Museum.
