In order to further promote the development of "new engineering" in our university, President Li Yanrong led a team to investigate the construction of "information +" interdisciplinary platform on March 22 and 26. Chu Liangyin, vice president, heads of relevant departments such as the party and administration offices and the Officeof Scientific Research and Development, as well as heads of relevant colleges participated in the survey.
At the Internet Chemical Research Center, Li Yanrong inspected and listened to the construction of the center, and put forward three suggestions. The first is about the internet chemical industry, which can use various sensors to collect the characteristics of the chemical reaction process, so as to realize the visualization and transparency of the chemical synthesis process. The second is to fully consider the special requirements of internet technology application in the chemical industry and promote the development of chemical industry IOT technology. The third is to take the construction of an internet chemical research center as an opportunity to promote the transformation of traditional chemical industry to new engineering. Once we have high-level scientific research, we can then help the cultivation of interdisciplinary talent.
At the Center of Engineering Science Calculation and Data Analysis, Li Yanrong pointed out that the application of numerical simulation software in special fields and industrial application research in CAE and CAD should be further expanded. SCU will provide more support with regard to the development scale of the center, the innovation of management mechanism, and graduate indicators.
At the Ubiquitous Power Internet of Things Research Center, Li Yanrong stressed that the center should focus on the industrial interconnection research of clean energy such as hydropower, wind energy and solar energy, connect the comprehensive applications of various new energy by internet, and establish an intelligent energy control system, including the research and development of inspection robot in power industry. At the same time, we should further intensify the substantive cooperation with local and industry representative enterprises.
At the Smart Water Conservancy Research Center(SWCRC), Li Yanrong put forward several suggestions: first, the concept of smart water conservancy should be accurate. Second, integrate the construction of SWCRC with the characteristics of the western region, especially the southwest region, and it should have the features of Sichuan University. Third, we should vigorously plan the "mountain river Skynet project" with reference to the "urban Skynet project", so as to realize the dynamic monitoring of bridges, caves and slopes of mountains and rivers in the motherland and the full coverage of key river basins.
In the new large-scale network range, Li Yanrong fully affirmed the construction standard of the network range. He hoped that the next step would be to strengthen the application of defense abilities in various practical scenarios. He suggested: first, we should further comb and master the core technologies in the practice of attack and defense drills, and then research and develop new network security technologies and application modules with independent intellectual property rights. Second, relying on the network range and cyber security college, we should actively apply for leading national major scientific research projects. Third, we should integrate into the national network security system and strengthen cooperation with key units of network security.
At the Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction, Li Yanrong pointed out that SCU launched the "Innovation 2035" pilot plan while making the "14th five-year plan", in which the "Heaven Earth integration and ecological evolution plan" will focus on the construction of comprehensive disaster reduction and prevention and relevant experimental facilities.
During the investigation and inspection, Li Yanrong said that engineering is an important symbol of the strength of comprehensive universities. The engineering of Sichuan University is large in size, comprehensive in disciplines, and makes great contributions. Only when engineering is good, can the university be really good and strong. With regard to the cross integration of engineering subjects, he hoped that the centers would give full play to the multidisciplinary advantages of Sichuan University, draw upon the engineering application scenarios and take the new generation of information technologies such as computer software, network communication, artificial intelligence, data mining, IOT technology, information statistics and mathematical algorithms as the means so as to achieve interdisciplinary convergence and integrated innovation, effectively promoting the development of new engineering and industry upgrading and progress.
