Sichuan Science and Technology Awards ceremony was held in Chengdu on March 17. Prof. Feng Xiaoming, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) won the "Sichuan Province Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award", and Peng Qinghua, Secretary of the Sichuan provincial Party committee, presented him this award.SCU has won a total of 34 Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Awards: ten first prizes, 11 second prizes and 12 third prizes. Also, SCU led 25 award winning projects, nine of which won a first prize.Vice presidents Liang Bin and Chu Liangyin, and award-winners’ representatives attended the ceremony.

Prof. Feng has focused his research on asymmetric synthesis methodology and synthesis of chiral medicine, pesticide and bioactive compounds for a long time. Through more than 20 years’ hard work, Feng has made original and internationally advanced achievements regarding the development of new chiral catalysts, new reactions, new methods and new strategies in asymmetric synthesis. He has substantially boosted Sichuan and China’s international influence and made phenomenal contribution to talent training in the field of organic synthesis.

SCU’s winners of Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Award 2020
SCU has won 34 Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Awards. SCU is the leader of 25 of the prize winning projects, and nine of which won the first prize. "Controllable Construction and Performance Enhancement Mechanism of Micro Nano Structured Intelligent Polymer Materials" by Chu Liangyin and others won the first prize of the natural science category. "Key Technology for Manufacturing New Polymer Micro Nano Composites and Functional Devices" by Zhang Chuhong and others, and "key Technology and Application of CO2 Mineralization Emission Reduction and Utilization Coupling" by Liang Bin and others won the first prize of the technological invention category. Chen Yi, Yang Yi, Lai Bo, Zhou Dong, and Zhao Changsheng and their teams won the first prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award for their respective research achievements.
