On the afternoon of November 14, the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University(HMIFU) officially released China’s Hospital Rankings 2019. In terms of the comprehensive ranking, West China Hospital of Sichuan University ranks second for 11 consecutive years. It tops the list of scientific research rankings with a full score for 11 consecutive years. The top three hospitals in 2019 are Peking Union Medical College Hospital, West China Hospital of Sichuan University and the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army.

The evaluation method of China’s Hospital Rankings has academic level and clinical specialty reputation at its core while taking into consideration the annual scientific research output. This method has been recognized and utilized by many people in and outside the industry. Gao Jiechun, head of HMIFU indicated that the number of experts participating in the selection this year has increased from 4,879 in the previous year to 5,210. This is a record high with an effective response rate of 64.53%, which is the second highest in history and is far higher than the response rate of the same kind in the United States.
