On Sept. 25, SCU held the exhibition of "New Medicine and Medicine/Engineering Combination" in the multi-function hall of Houde Building, West China Campus on the occasion of the 124th anniversary of the founding of SCU and the 110th anniversary of the founding of the West China School of Medicine. SCU's four university hospitals, five medical colleges, ten engineering colleges; eight universities such as Tsinghua University and Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics; 50 plus well-known enterprises including Chengdu Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. and China Mobile Sichuan Co., Ltd. participated in the exhibition. Chairman Jianguo Wang of the university council, President Yanrong Li, leaders and chief scientists of SCU’s three centers and one platform visited the exhibition.
Jianguo Wang and Yanrong Li visited the exhibition sections of 5G big data health portal, medicine + information, medicine + manufacturing, medicine + materials and so forth. They learned about the current situation of medicine/engineering integration and the implementation of achievements transformation, listened to project leaders’ reports and suggestions on promoting the development of medicine/engineering integration, and highly affirmed the progress regarding the integration of medicine and engineering.
After visiting the exhibition, Jianguo Wang, on behalf of the university, expressed his thanks to the experts and teachers who actively participated in the work to combine medicine and engineering. He said that in the next phase, SCU should include all the latest achievements of medicine/engineering integration and demonstrate them in various forms. At the same time, we should make good use of the digital exhibition hall of West China School of Medicine, and display all the latest achievements in a timely manner, so as to exhibit the new features of the new medicine development at West China School of Medicine.
Yanrong Li gave congratulations on the exhibition and expressed his thanks to the scientific research teams for their efforts. In addition, he hoped that the rank and file teachers and students, especially young teachers of science and engineering and leaders of various departments of the West China Hospital/School of Medicine would come to visit and study, to learn about the vast world of new medicine development and the combination of medicine and engineering, striving to create more sparks.
The exhibition aims to showcase SCU's latest achievements of medicine/engineering integration, as well as achievements of West China Medicine over the past 110 years. The exhibition consists of four sections, namely 5G big data health portal, medicine+ information, medicine+ manufacturing, and medicine + materials. 48 achievements including mobile intelligent medical treatment, remote ultrasound, artificial intelligence, new kits, oral biomaterials and medical functional materials are exhibited. The four affiliated hospitals and cooperation entities involving different professions will put on roadshows featuring 18 themes simultaneously. The latest medical information platforms, such as the unified social service platform of West China medical health care, 5G intelligent medical application and innovation platform, health care big data resource highland and application platform in Western China, Sichuan University research and development support and transformation platform of medicine/engineering integration, were officially released at the exhibition.
