The results of the Fifth National Art Exhibition of College Students, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, have been announced. The panel of judges has given out Outstanding Organization Award to 32 educational departments at the provincial level and 243 institutions of higher education. It has awarded 201 first prizes, 236 second prizes and 153 third prizes in the category of art performance. In addition, there are 47 first prizes, 66 second prizes and 49 third prizes in the category of college student art practice workshop. Sichuan University’s Student Folk Orchestra, Student Choir, and Student Drama Group have won the first prize of the art performance category; the Student Dance Troupe has won the third prize of art performance. The Student Drama Group has won the Outstanding Award of Creation, and SCU the University Outstanding Organization Award. Among all the universities and colleges at the art exhibition, SCU ranks the first place in the number of first prizes, a new record for Sichuan University. It exemplifies a big achievement in art education at Sichuan University.

Being launched in 2016, the Fifth National Art Exhibition of College Students showcases the hard work and achievements in art education of universities. It entails a three-level contest: the university level, provincial level and the national final. According to statistics, over 90% of Chinese universities and colleges have taken part in the art exhibition. Students from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region have been invited to participate in the finals for the first time. The Sixth National Art Exhibition of College Students will be held in 2021 in Chengdu according to the Ministry of Education. SCU will be one of the venues.
