On the morning of May 15th, the conference on the promotion of industrial Internet scientific research was held in Wangjiang Campus. Xiaolan Xu, president of China Academy of Industrial Internet, Jun Li, director of the Planning Group of China Academy of Industrial Internet, SCU President Yanrong Li, and leaders of relevant departments and institutes, such as the SCU Office of Scientific Research and Development and World University Construction Office, as well as principal scientific researchers participated in the conference. Vice President Weilin Xu presided over the conference.
On behalf of the university, President Yanrong Li welcomed President Xiaolan Xu to Sichuan University for instructions.
He pointed out that SCU has a good variety of well-developed liberal arts, science, engineering and medicine disciplines. The university has decided on the development plan of "running the best medicine, first-class liberal arts, science and new engineering" and the development path of "excellent liberal arts, improved science, reformed engineering and strong medicine". Sichuan University's "reform of engineering" is to build new engineering disciplines by integrating engineering with "information +" and "medicine +". He hoped that President Xiaolan Xu would offer more care and support Sichuan University's research work on industrial Internet. At the same time, he urged relevant engineering colleges to seize the opportunity of the state’s developing industrial Internet and further strengthen the transformation and upgrading of traditional engineering.
President Xiaolan Xu made a special report which touched on issues, such as "the background of industrial Internet development, the significance of industrial Internet development, the industrial ecology of industrial Internet in China, the achievements and progress of industrial Internet in China, the opportunities and challenges of promoting high-quality economic development with industrial internet, the strategies and suggestions for industrial Internet development, and the basic situation of China Academy of Industrial Internet.
At the meeting, Professor Xu Ji of the School of Chemical Engineering, Professor Xianyong Xiao, dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Professor Xingguo Yang, secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Water Resource and Hydropower, Professor Jie Wang, dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Liangyin Chen, executive vice president of the Institute for Industrial Internet Research, Professor Baofeng Di, associate dean of the Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction, reported on their work and development plans to reform and upgrade relevant disciplines using modern information technology such as industrial Internet.
