The finals of the 2021 National Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition opened at Tsinghua University in September. In the meantime, the Sichuan Chongqing regional competition, which was organized by the Engineering Training Center(ETC) of Sichuan University, kicked off in Sichuan University. On November 17, the organizing committee announced the winners of the finals, and the Sichuan University students won one gold award and two silver awards.
This grand competition has drawn 66,000 undergraduates from 690 Chinese universities. Among them, 2,404 students of 601 teams from 267 universities entered the national finals. After rounds of competition,15 of the 800 participating teams in Sichuan province advanced to the national finals. and three teams from Sichuan University competed in the finals. In the finals, the student team of Wang Chenchen, Zhang Xianyun and Feng Yunlong won the gold medal in the intelligent logistics robot competition. Huang Hao, Fang Zeng and Cai Yunfeng won a silver medal in the competition for battery electric vehicles of total thermal power system, and Li Shikun, Xia Yuchen and Yang Zihan won a silver medal in the competition of the underwater pipeline intelligent inspection. ETC of Sichuan University won the excellent organization award in the finals.

The National Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition is an important event listed in “the Evaluation and Competition List of the Ministry of Education (2021 Edition)”. This competition has set up 3 tracks and 11 events such as engineering foundation, "intelligent +" and virtual simulation, covering the fields of basic engineering design, AI enabled electromechanical integrated system design, major equipment design, engineering management and decision-making, digital new media and engineering cultural knowledge in multi-level education scenes from basic engineering literacy to comprehensive innovation ability.
