On June 5, the first award ceremony of West China-Kelun Medicine Scholarship was held at Kelun Industry Group. SCU’s President Li Yanrong, Vice President Zhang Lin; Liu Gexin, chairman of Sichuan Kelun Pharmaceutical, Ge Junyou, vice president of Kelun Pharmaceutical Research Institute; Huang Yuan, Party Secretary of the West China School of Pharmacy; and 50 prize winning students attended the award ceremony.
Liu Gexin, on behalf of Kelun Industry Group, congratulated all the students who have won the scholarship and briefly introduced the basic situation of the company. He said the company is one of the top 500 enterprises of China’s manufacturing industry and the top three in China's pharmaceutical industry. It is an honor to cooperate with West China School of Medicine/West China Hospital, which is a top-notch hospital in China. The West China-Kelun Medicine Scholarship is an important part of the strategic cooperation between the two sides, which aims to cultivate excellent medical students and jointly promote the development of China's medical and health undertakings.
Li Yanrong expressed his gratitude toward the chairman and Kelun Industry Group for their long-standing support to the university, and congratulated the students who have won the scholarship. He said that Kelun Industry Group and WCSM have had a good cooperative relationship for a long time, and both sides have carried out extensive cooperation in clinical scientific research, discipline development, collaborative innovation platform construction, etc. He hoped that the two sides would intensify cooperation and achieve fruitful results in talent training, drug research and development as well as achievement transformation.
At the ceremony, Ge Junyou briefly introduced the research and development situation of Kelun Pharmaceutical Research Institute. Chai Zheng, a Class 2017 student of WCSM, spoke on behalf of the award-winning students and expressed his gratitude for the training of the school and the support and encouragement of Kelun.
