On the Chinese New Year’s Eve, over 60 SCU student dancers of College of Art staged wonderful performances in the annual gala in celebration of the Spring Festival. In addition to the first dance show “The Sea of Spring” and the finale “An Unforgettable Night”, they participated in seven performances, showcasing their wonderful talents. The seven programs are “A Hundred Lions Usher in a New Spring”, “The Chinese Happiness”, “A Sleepless Night”, “My Motherland and I”, “All Travels Together in a Happy China”, “Standing by my Motherland” and “Building the Chinese Dream”.

Being no stranger to the gala, SCU students of Dancing Art have taken part in the Spring Festival Gala for three consecutive years (the fifth time to this stage). It took the students nearly two months to practice and rehearse prior to the gala. During the rehearsal, the students suffered flu and rashes because of the limitation of space and closed environment. Nonetheless, the SCU teachers and students of Dancing Art were serious and hardworking, winning the acclaim of the directing team and workers of the Spring Festival Gala at CCTV for their professionalism.
In recent years, Sichuan University has been implementing the strategy of strengthening the university with talents, giving top priority to the cultivation of talents. Upholding the university motto of “The sea contains every river”, SCU College of Art takes it as its on-going objective to nurture noble notion in students who will become well-rounded and have a good command of subject knowledge, innovation ideas and a broad international horizon. Taking advantage of the multiple disciplines, the college will constantly promote the reform of teaching and education. In accordance with the principle of "five equals": to emphasize both theories and practice in teaching, humanistic quality and solid artistic skills, innovative thinking and creative ability, classroom teaching and social practice, and standardized education and personality training, efforts have been made to explore and construct innovative artistic talents training mode in a comprehensive university.In the meantime, the college encourages teachers to research and explore in terms of curriculum construction, teaching resources expansion, innovation of pedagogy, and innovation and entrepreneurship education. The college’s achievements of talent cultivation have been embodied in the fact that students of Dancing Art have performed in five CCTV Spring Festival galas. In the future, it will continue to exert its specialty advantages and make progress towards the goal of "double first-class" construction of Sichuan University.
