On November 29th, the final of the debate competition “Wise Sichuan University Students” was conducted as part of SCU 2019 Campus Culture and Art Festival. President Yanrong Li attended the final.
After two months of intense competitions, the Robot Association and the team of School of Public Administration won the third place. The Speech and Communication Association and the ACCA Financial Debate team stood out from 35 teams and proceeded to the final to compete for the championship. At the final, the two teams went straight to the theme and launched a fierce debate about "Should priority be given to the cultivation of scientific attainment or humanistic spirit education in a first-class university?”
By the vote of the panel of judges, the ACCA Financial Debate team won the championship of the "Wise Sichuan University Students" debate competition of the 2019 Campus Culture and Art Festival of Sichuan University, and the Speech and Communication Association won the second place. Yingyue Zhang of the ACCA Financial Debate team won the title of “Best Overall Performance”

Afterwards, the former members Yin Chu, Qingxi Zeng, Zimin Tan, Miao Luo, Rui Xi and Wenjia Qiu of the Sichuan University Debate Team gave a demo debate on "Buddhism Culture is the Antidote / Poison of Contemporary Youth".

"Buddhism is the personal choice in one’s life. However, it means that you have shunned your responsibility, and that someone else has to take on the responsibility in your place. We should determine the standard of happiness on our own instead of leaving it to others.” “When others do well, give congratulations and appreciation. In this era, we feel happy not only when we succeed but also when others shine on the stage.” "The most worrisome thing is that young people start to settle for the mediocre before they have worked hard to become the best.” "The Buddhist school of thought states: Happiness lies in details, and happiness exists every day” --- The debaters gave tit-for tat in their debate with each other. Their speeches were punctuated with wonderful quotes and classical examples, winning resounding applause and laughter in the audience.
After the demo debate, Yong Guo issues the letter of appointment to Yin Chu, Shu Zhu, Qingxi Zeng, Zimin Tan, Miao Luo, Wenjia Qiu and Rui Xi respectively, appointing them coaches of Sichuan University Debate Team.
