On Oct.23-24, Sichuan University held the 2021 International Conference on China-Pakistan Cooperation in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan. More than 150 experts and scholars from well-known universities and research institutions of China and Pakistan, as well as executives from well-known Chinese enterprises in Pakistan and Pakistani enterprises attended either online or in person the conference in Chengdu Xiangyu Hotel. The participants shared ideas on the cooperation achievements and future development in the two major fields of "strategic cooperation and cultural exchange" and "economic and trade cooperation and industrial development" since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan 70 years ago. They also discussed the bright prospects for the high-quality construction of the second stage of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor as well as all-round strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan.
The conference was presided over by Prof. Song Zhihui, vice dean of the School of International Studies and director of the Pakistan Research Center of Sichuan University. SCU’s vice president Yao Leye delivered a welcome speech. Mr. Moin Ul Haque, Pakistani ambassador to China, and Mr. Nong Rong, Chinese ambassador to Pakistan delivered speeches online respectively. In addition, Prof. Li Xiguang, director of the Pakistan Research Center of Tsinghua University, delivered a keynote speech. The conference was composed of two sub forums, "strategic cooperation and cultural exchange" and "economic and trade cooperation and industrial development". Experts and entrepreneurs from China and Pakistan not only shared the research results, but also had a dialogue with the representatives attending the meeting. Finally, Prof. Li Zhiqiang, executive vice dean of the School of International Studies, made a concluding speech on behalf of Sichuan University.
On the 24th, the China Pakistan Economic and Cultural Exchange Incubation Center held a launching ceremony in the New Convention and Exhibition Center of Chengdu Century City. The center is an important platform for future cooperation and exchange between the two countries.
