On June 7,H.E. Mohamed Al Dehaimi ,the Qatar ambassador to China, and his delegation paid a visit to Sichuan University. President Li Yanrong met with the guests in the VIP hall of Wangjiang campus. Mr. Osman, an economic expert of the Qatari Embassy in China, Mr. Yao Leye, vice president of SCU and heads of relevant departments of both sides attended the meeting.

On behalf of the university, Li Yanrong welcomed the ambassador and his party. He said that Sichuan University always upholds the principle of running the school in an open mode and, constantly improves the degree of internationalization in order to broaden students' vision and boost their international competitiveness. Qatar has rich resources and a long history of culture. It has a good cooperative relationship with China. The university gives high priority to the exchange and cooperation with Qatar’s high-level universities, especially in the post pandemic era. Both sides have greater cooperation room in vaccine research and development, medical technology and so forth.

Mohamed Al Dehaimi thanked the university for the warm reception and briefed on the development of Qatar’s education.He said that Sichuan University is a century old school with international influence. The Qatari Embassy in China is willing to deepen the cooperation between Sichuan University and Qatari universities, and better promote the cooperation in joint education, youth exchange, scientific research and innovation.
