As of this report, 95 National Social Science Fund (NSSFC) projects of our university have been approved in 2021, which is a record high. The approved projects include 14 NSSFC key projects, which is also the highest number over the years. Besides, SCU has got 57 general projects, tying for the second place among colleges and universities in China. SCU has got approved for a total of 271 NSSFC general projects during the “double first-class” status development (2017 – 2021), ranking No.1 nationwide for three consecutive years.

The National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences announced the 2021 NSSFC Youth and West projects on September 24. Our university has obtained 57 NSSFC general projects, ranking second among colleges and universities in China. Seven of the 57 projects are key projects.

During the "double first-class" status development (2017-2021), SCU has got approved for 271 NSSFC general projects, ranking first among colleges and universities in China. In particular, SCU ranked first nationwide for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019.

The university leaders give high priority to the development of liberal arts, and the university has issued a number of “liberal arts first” policies to provide systematic support for liberal arts development. In terms of teachers team development, the university has implemented the "double hundred talent" plan to introduce and train high-end liberal arts talent. Regarding platform construction, SCU has improved the national bases, cultivated quasi national scientific research platforms, building the school of Sichuan University with Chinese features. In terms of project cultivation, SCU has formulated national project cultivation policies. Even if a teacher fails to get approved for the NSSFC project, the university will still support the research of the project.
