The Ministry of Education(MOE) recently announced the major research projects of philosophy and social sciences in 2020. SCU has got two research projects, namely, "The salvage and research of Chinese modern poetry periodicals" of Prof. Yi Li from the College of Literature and Journalism, and "Research on the history of Chinese Buddhist sculpture" of Prof. Qing Chang from the Arts College. It is a record high for SCU.
This year, a total of 51 projects have been approved, involving 35 universities. Fudan University ranks first with 5 projects and Zhejiang University ranks second with 4 projects. SCU ranks third, along with Peking University, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University and Wuhan University, with two projects.
It is reported that the MOE's major research projects represent the highest level of liberal arts research and are on a par with the major projects of the National Social Science Fund. Since MOE launched the program in 2003, a number of highly influential achievements have turned out. These projects have become an important standard to measure the strength and level of scientific research in colleges and universities.
