The 2019 Chinese Conference on Oncology was recently held in Chongqing. The academic session had a registration of 31,000, and 36,000 for the popular science session. A total number of 67,000 people participated in this conference. It was the largest conference on oncology in China. Qiming Zhan, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, presided over the award ceremony for theYoung Scientist Award for Chinese Oncology" Award. He presented award certificates to 10 winners (5 in clinical oncology and 5 in basic oncology research). Professor Shengtao Zhou, Department of Gynecology, West China Second University Hospital, was awarded the "2019 Young Scientist Award for Chinese Oncology”.

Professor Shengtao Zhou is a member of the Party Committee of West China Second University Hospital. He is the winner of the National Excellent Youth Fund (2018), the 8th "China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award" (2013), Young Scientist Award for Chinese Oncology (2019), Outstanding Scholar Award of Good Future (2019), and Tang Lixin Outstanding Scholar Award (2017). In addition, he has been selected for the 12th batch of candidates for academic and scientific leaders in Sichuan Province, and the winner of Sichuan University science and technology leading talent cultivation project. As a professor of gynecology, his research field is the molecular mechanism of tumor immune metabolic microenvironment in female tumors and its targeted therapy.

In 2016, Chinese Anti Cancer Association set up the Young Scientist Award for Chinese Oncology to commend and reward young scientists who have made outstanding achievements in clinical medicine, scientific research and education of oncology. Its purpose is to bring up young academic leaders who can become world-class researchers of oncology, accelerating the development of Chinese oncology. No more than ten awards are given out each time. In June 2019, the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association conducted the "2019 Young Scientist Award of Chinese Oncology Evaluation ". 65 candidates (30 from the basic cancer research group and 35 from the clinical oncology group) from 47 work units in China entered the evaluation. Professor Shengtao Zhou of Gynecology Department, West China Second University Hospital have excelled and won the “2019 Young Scientist Award for Chinese Oncology”.
