Being a special major project of the National Social Science Foundation, the Compendium of Ancient Books of Sichuan and Chongqing (hereinafter referred to as the Compendium)has passed the evaluation with an approval mark “excellent”.Professor Shu Dagang of Sichuan University is the chief editor and chief expert of the Compendium. Associate editors include Wan Ben’gen, Li Wenze, Guo Qi, Wang Jialing, Peng Bangben, Wang Zhiyong, Yang Shiwen, Wu Hongze, Yin Bo.

The Compendium is a large collection of ancient literature from Ba and Shu (Sichuan and Chongqing today). The compilation work was listed as a major project of the National Social Science Foundation in April 2010. Being the largest, most up-to-date compilation and research on local literature in this area since the establishment of Sichuan province, it is an important milestone of cultural inheritance in Sichuan.

The "Compendium" is a project intended to investigate, collect, compile, and study ancient literature in the Bashu region. It aims to preserve and disseminate the academic and cultural achievements of the past dynasties, systematically showcasing the profound cultural heritage and unique cultural charm of the Bashu region since ancient times.

The “Compendium” is the end product of the project. Being a large collection of local literature in Bashu, it consists of three series: the combined catalog of Bashu literature, the collection of high-quality Bashu literature, and the important publications and limited editions of Bashu literature. It contains over 610 books with approximately 150 million words. The achievements of "Song Huiyao Jigao (" Song Dynasty Government Manuscripts Compendium ") and the “Complete Works of Liao Ping," have won multiple awards, including the first prize of Excellent Achievements in Higher Education Research (Humanities and Social Sciences) by the Ministry of Education, the first prize of Excellent Achievements Award by the Sichuan Provincial Government, and the National Award for Excellent Achievements in Ancient Book Sorting.

In addition, the compilation team has also added a series of auxiliary research such as literature integration, Shu Studies Series, Shu Studies Library, and Ba Shu Studies Case so as to maximize the preservation of literature and intensify thematic research.

Although the "Compendium" project has been completed, the project team will continue to conduct in-depth organization in the form of academic history, highlight the wisdom of ancient Bashu sages and extract their value for the contemporary use of today.
