On September 26, 2021, at the 125th anniversary of Sichuan University, the 7th Chengdu International Forum on Precision Medicine --Parallel Session V: Nursing Forum-Frontiers in Precision Nursing and Technological Innovation and the first Scientific and Technological Innovation Forum of West China School of Nursing, Sichuan University was successfully held in Chengdu. The conference kicked off with an impressive video recording the scientific and technological innovation of WCSN, SCU.
Prof. LI Weimin, the Dean of West China School of Medicine/School of Nursing & President of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, delivered the welcome speech. He emphasized the mission and responsibility of WCSN, SCU to promote scientific and technological innovation facing the global scientific frontier. West China hospital and West China School of Nursing always gives priority to innovative and high-quality development of nursing discipline. The nursing discipline has developed from depth and breadth to meet the frontier and standard of precision nursing, combined basic and clinical nursing research, adhered to the collaboration between doctors and nurses, reinforced platform construction, gathered high-end talents, strengthened open cooperation, and continued to promote the innovation of nursing science and technology from the direction of cutting-edge research with characteristics and advantages. Later, Prof. LI Weimin made a keynote speech on the establishment of whole-course disease management system based on specialist medical association.
On behalf of the Sichuan University, Prof. XU Weilin, Executive Vice President of SCU, made a welcome speech for all the attending experts, representatives and guests. He emphasized that nursing, as one of the six key disciplines of Sichuan University, should make full efforts in faculty training, talent cultivation, scientific research, international exchanges and discipline reputation by taking advantage of the opportunity of the Double First-class Development of the Ministry of Education. Prof. Xu believed that nursing should aim at the forefront of science and technology, deepen basic research, strengthen clinical research, promote translational research, and constantly break through the scientific difficulties of "lifecycle health and disease management". He also highlighted the importance of scientific contribution to the society, and the overall enhancement of the nursing discipline.
On behalf of the Chinese Nursing Association, Prof. WU Xinjuan, the President of Chinese Nursing Association, gave us warm congratulations to the successful opening of the conference. She highly praised the positive demonstration role of nursing staff from WCSN, SCU in scientific and technological innovation in the Chinese Nursing Association. She also encouraged that all workers, engaged in nursing science and technology, domestic and abroad, to focus on the new trend of nursing research, to discuss the new pattern of nursing discipline development, and to make great contributions to promoting "Healthy China" strategy and enhancing human health and well-being.
CHEN Xuehua, the Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department of Sichuan Province, expressed warm congratulations on the successful convening of the conference on behalf of the department in his speech. He acknowledged the achievements made by the WCSN, SCU in technological innovation. Facing the major needs of Chinese great health strategy, he encouraged the WCSN nursing team to uphold the spirit of Chinese scientists, to build a solid scientific research platform, to gather and cultivate high-end talents, to clarify nursing scientific problems, to innovate key nursing technologies, to improve the level of nursing disciplines, and to contribute to the “Healthy China” strategy.
