SCU Students Won Special Prize of the 2nd National College Students' Chemical Experiment Innovation/Design Competition

On August 27, the finals of the 2nd “Weirui Cup” National College Students’ Chemical Experiment Innovation/Design Competition drew to an end in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao.

After the selections of each sub division, a total of 90 teams entered the national finals. Due to the strict pandemic prevention and control, this event was held in the form of online defense. After two rounds of online defense, the competition work "Preparation of Ce0.75Zr0.25O2 and catalytic purification of automobile exhaust" by Qing Wenyue, Chen Qiyou and Jia A’long of the 2018 Honors’ Chemistry Class won the special prize. Their advisors are Guo Caihong, Zhao Ming and Wang Yuliang of the College of Chemistry. Our university has won the special prize twice in a row.

The national undergraduate chemical experiment innovation and design competition is an undergraduate discipline competition which started in 2019. Its purpose is to consolidate the basic chemical knowledge, basic theory and basic skills of students majoring in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry and other related majors. The competition can improve the undergraduates’ ability to find, analyze and solve problems. It also provides a platform for university Chemistry students to display innovation ability and exchange ideas, promoting the reform of practice-based chemistry teaching in Chinese universities.
