According to the overall strategic cooperation between Sichuan University and Sanya City, West China Hospital(WCH) will take on the Sanya People's Hospital(SPH) and operate under the name of Sanya West China Hospital of Sichuan University. On May 28, Zhang Lin, vice president of SCU, led a team to the cadre appointment announcement meeting of SPH in Sanya. He Shigang, vice mayor of the Sanya Municipal Government, Zou Jiaming, the executive vice director of organization department of the Sanya municipal Party committee and other leaders attended the meeting. Relevant persons in charge of the West China Medical Center and West China Hospital also took part in the meeting.

At the meeting, Zou Jiaming announced the appointments: Song bin is appointed the party secretary of SPH, Zhang Bo the president of SPH, and Yuan Lu the vice president of SPH.

Zhang Lin asked the new team of leaders to be development oriented, make concerted efforts with the leading group of SPH, forge ahead with the cadres and staff of the hospital, and achieve good results together. Furthermore, Zhang Lin said that the team's entry is a new starting point for Sanya and the West China Hospital to deepen cooperation in running the hospital. The cooperation between the two sides is an integral part of intensifying reform and opening up in Hainan and the construction of a free trade port with Chinese features. The hospital should be rooted in Hainan, serve the whole country and set their vision upon the world.

He Shigang stressed that the introduction of WCH, the top medical institution in China, is a major decision that the municipal Party committee and the municipal government has made to vigorously raise the medical and health level of Sanya. The arrival of the new leadership indicates that SPH has officially entered the "West China era". He hoped that the West China management team would get familiar with the environment as soon as possible and establish the management benchmark for public hospitals in Sanya. The municipal Party committee and the municipal government will stand by their side, providing total support.
