On March 30, the National Health Commission published the results of performance appraisal of tertiary public hospitals in 2019. SCU’s three hospitals got phenomenal ratings. West China hospital ranks second in overall performance; West China Second University Hospital ranks first in obstetrics and gynecology(OBGYN). West China Hospital of Stomatology ranks second nationwide in stomatology.

Of the 1,183 general hospitals in China, West China Hospital of Sichuan University scored 917.6 in 2019, ranking second with a monitoring index of A++. Its total amount of scientific research funds ranked first, and it ranked second in the number of level 4 surgeries in China.

The West China Second University Hospital got a score of 951, ranking first in OBGYN hospitals (including maternal and child health care). This is the second time that it has ranked the first place after the first "national examination" in 2018.

The West China Hospital of Stomatology scored 939, ranking second nationwide in stomatology. These excellent rankings reflect the achievements of WCHS in the development of high-level talent team, talent training, scientific research, medical service, and hospital management, and so forth.

A total of 2,413 hospitals participated in the evaluation this time. The evaluation process involved over 100 experts who went through two stages and four rounds of data quality control. Tianhe-2 supercomputer has analyzed 101 million front pages of medical records and other 485,600 items of data and 42,500 pieces of supporting data. Experts have also conducted random checks on hospital data.
